I write about things I find interesting or stuff that I’m fixing or modding.
Financial disclosure:
I have purchased all the stuff I write about, except, for example, things like this. None of the stuff has been received gratis.
I used to have Amazon.com links for products I’ve written about. The links contained my referral ID, which gave me a piece of the action if you bought something from that visit – A minuscule… a very small piece. Now I have removed those links to Amazon because Amazon shut the program down June 29, 2011 in California. The State of California has a new law that goes into effect September 2012 or January 2013 (depending on if the US Congress passes a similar law) that requires online retailers to collect sales tax, even if they have no physical presence in the state. Amazon.com Chief Executive Jeff Bezos said will start collecting sales tax in California in 2013. My Amazon Associates earnings from the previous four quarters could not buy lunch at a two star restaurant.
Update: Since October 2011, Amazon has reinstated the Amazon.com Associates Program in California, so I will be gradually adding back products that link to Amazon.com so I can make some money next quarter for a hamburger.
My Google Adsense earnings from the previous four quarters would be enough to buy an 18 piece Original Recipe dinner (with 3 side orders) at KFC, with drinks.
Technical Notes:
This is a WordPress 3.3 powered blog hosted on the cheapest Godaddy shared server Linux plan.
I switch themes every now and then because I have nothing to do.
Please try a modern browser if you’re still using Internet Explorer 6, 7 or 8. I use these browsers: Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer 8 (or 9 if you use Windows 7), RockMelt (if you’re a social networker), Safari and Opera. I like Firefox the most because the extensions offer a lot of customization, but I don’t like their new release schedule if each next version screws up the extensions I use. I also use Chrome a lot because it’s really fast and their updates don’t seem to screw up the extensions.
